Rotterdam gains a special meeting place for rest and inspiration

Under great public interest, the renovated Park Pavilion was festively opened on Saturday, June 21. During this longest day of the year, the crowds of park lovers enjoyed all the good things the Park has to offer; healing nature, soothing architecture and poetry and music.

Eva van Manen treated the audience to an impressive performance and presented the brand new "Summer" collection in the Poetry in the Park series. The Park Pavilion, home of gardeners, makers and park lovers is freely accessible to all Rotterdammers and visitors to the city from Wednesday, June 25, during opening hours. Everyone is welcome, for a personal break or an inspiring encounter.

A unique place in the city

The Park Pavilion is a place for all Rotterdammers, travelers and visitors to the Park. Whether you come for a walk, an educational excursion, a surprising poetry reading or a quiet moment for yourself - here you will find a unique combination of beauty, tranquility and inspiration. In the Park Pavilion, you can get a glass of water, join in and just be. It is what you see.

Welcome!

Midsummer attempt

"That we put an effort on our picnic blanket
among the sunburns and books
gazing at the canopy, wondering
If midsummer makes you melancholy too

That we throw a try as a boomerang
Summer tingles in the hollow of the knees
languidly sagging in grass
How everything was already a cycle"

Excerpt from "Midsummer's Attempt" - Eva van Manen

the Convalescent Home

A new culture of attention

The Park Pavilion was built in 1937 as a convalescent home for Rotterdammers weary of body and mind. There they could recuperate in one of the 32 beds in the benign atmosphere of the Park. The recent renovation under the direction of architect Jurgen Bey of Studio Makkink and Bey is an ode to the monumental principles of this piece of heritage by bringing back the starting points of the time - light, air and space in an open connection with the Park - in the new design and furnishings. Many of the materials used, such as the wood for the furniture, were also sourced from the Park. With the commissioning of the Park Pavilion, the Park Foundation is giving a new impetus to the well-being of all city residents and visitors and endorses the "invigorating" effect of nature, connection and deepening, with a prominent place for the arts.
