Fantastic news! Our Park Pavilion has been nominated for the 2026 Rotterdam Architecture Prize. The pavilion, which was built in 1927 as a convalescent home for Rotterdam residents with “physical and mental exhaustion,” was renovated in 2024 and 2025 by Studio Makkink and Bey and opened its doors in June 2025 as the home of het Park Foundation and a freely accessible public space in het Park. It has thus once again become a place of respite where people can recharge in and with nature, right in the heart of the bustling city. In addition to a Jury Prize, the Rotterdam Architecture Prize also features a Public Choice Award; the public had until May 8 to cast their votes for this award. The winner(s) of the Jury Prize and the People’s Choice Award will be announced on Friday, June 12, at 4:00 p.m.
